The July 16th Osun state governorship election which saw Ademola Adeleke of the PDP declared winner has been annulled with the All Progressives Congress candidate Adegboyega Oyetola declared winner. This is coming after the incumbent and APC candidate filed a petition against Adeleke’s victory.
Justice Tetsea Kume of the Elections Petitions Tribunal passed a judgement in favor of APC’s candidate while stating that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC failed to comply with the constitutions and provisions of the Electoral Act.
The ruling was majored on the issue of overvoting, and the Justice Tetsea declared Adetola winner following deductions of overvoting from the election polls which saw the PDP’s candidate – Adeleke final score dropping to 290,266 while Oyetola had 314,921 votes.
Adeleke has vowed to challenge this result in a higher court.
